When You’ve Lost Your Appetite
Revelation 2:4–5 (ESV)
“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”
Devotional Thought:
Spiritual hunger is a sign of life.
But what happens when it disappears?
Jesus speaks to a church in Revelation that was active… but not affectionate.
They still did the work.
They still showed up.
But their hearts had drifted.
Spiritual hunger fades not in rebellion — but in replacement.
Good things took the place of the first thing.
Busyness replaced burning.
Duty replaced desire.
But Jesus didn’t shame them — He invited them back.
“Remember… repent… return.”
That’s how hunger is restored.
If your heart feels distant today, don’t fake the fire.
Ask the Lord to rekindle it.
Prayer Focus:
Jesus, I want my first love back.
Restore the hunger I’ve lost.
Forgive me for where I’ve replaced intimacy with activity.
Bring me back to wonder, back to fire, back to You.
Prayer Points:
🔹 Personal Renewal
Pray for hearts that have grown cold or distracted to be stirred again.
🔹 Return to First Love
Ask God to reset priorities—so He becomes the desire, not just the duty.
🔹 Conviction in the Church
That pastors, leaders, and churches would return to intimacy over industry.
🔹 Healing for the Spiritually Numb
Pray for those who feel dry, distant, or disillusioned to encounter God again.
🔹 A Hunger for the Secret Place
That the body of Christ would long to meet with Jesus in private again — not just in public.
