Blessed Are the Hungry

Matthew 5:6 (ESV)
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."

Devotional Thought:

This week, we’re leaning into a theme that the Church desperately needs to return to: Spiritual Hunger.

We are not called to be comfortable Christians — we are called to be consumed.
Consumed with desire for God.
Hungry for righteousness.
Thirsty for His presence more than the world’s approval.

Jesus made it clear — the satisfied ones are the hungry ones.
Not the religious.
Not the ones who checked the box.
But the ones who long for more.

Spiritual hunger is a gift.
It means you haven’t grown numb.
It means the fire hasn’t gone out.

And if you’ve lost that appetite? Don’t fake it — ask for it.
Ask the Lord to stir your soul again.
Because a hungry heart will always find its way back to the altar.

Prayer Focus:

Lord, awaken spiritual hunger in me again.
I don’t want to be numb. I don’t want to go through the motions.
Stir something deeper — a holy desperation — for You and You alone.

Prayer Points:

🔹 A Fresh Appetite for God
Ask God to stir up hunger for His Word, His presence, and His voice.

🔹 Conviction Over Complacency
Pray that apathy would be broken and that zeal would return to the Church.

🔹 Hunger in Our Homes
Ask God to awaken families — especially children and teens — to pursue Him passionately.

🔹 Worship That Costs Something
Let us not offer what costs us nothing. Pray for sacrifice, surrender, and true intimacy in worship.
