Day 6 — “Fruit That Grows”

Scripture:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV)

Devotional Thought:

When the flesh is denied, the Spirit begins to bear fruit. Scripture does not tell us to produce fruit through effort — fruit grows naturally when we remain yielded to the Spirit.

The lust of the flesh produces impatience, frustration, and self-indulgence. The Spirit produces something entirely different. As we fast and pray, God is not just removing old patterns — He is cultivating new life within us.

Fruit takes time to grow. It develops quietly, steadily, and often unnoticed at first. But over time, it becomes evident. Love replaces irritation. Peace replaces restlessness. Self-control replaces impulse.

Fasting creates space for this growth. As we walk by the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit begins to shape our reactions, desires, and decisions. This is not behavior modification — it is transformation.

Today, we thank God not only for what He is breaking, but for what He is growing.

Prayer Focus:

  • Thank the Lord for the work of the Holy Spirit in your life

  • Ask God to cultivate spiritual fruit where the flesh once ruled

  • Pray specifically for self-control and patience as fruit of the Spirit

  • Invite the Holy Spirit to shape your character through this fast

Prayer:

“Holy Spirit, I yield myself to You. Grow Your fruit in my life where the flesh once had control. Shape my heart, my reactions, and my desires. I trust You to produce what I cannot. Let my life reflect Your work in me. Amen.”
