Anchored and Assured

Lamentations 3:21–24 (ESV)
"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him.'"

Devotion
Jeremiah wrote Lamentations in the middle of devastation. The city was in ruins. Grief was everywhere. And yet—in the center of the pain—he made a choice to remember the faithfulness of God. That’s where his hope was revived.

Hope doesn’t always begin with a feeling. It often begins with a decision: to call to mind what’s still true about God when everything else feels uncertain.

The mercy of God is not seasonal. It’s not dependent on how we feel, what we see, or what we’ve lost. His mercy is new this morning—right now. And because of that, we have reason to lift our heads and expect goodness again.

The enemy wants us to forget God’s faithfulness. But when we remember who He is, we step into hope that is alive, active, and anchored.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank the Lord for His unfailing love and new mercies today.

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind past faithfulness and stir fresh hope in your spirit.

  • Pray for those who feel forgotten or discouraged to have a renewed awareness of God’s presence.

  • Declare over your family, your church, and your future: "The Lord is our portion; we will hope in Him!"

  • Intercede for believers who are weary—that they would find strength in the mercy of today and peace in the faithfulness of God.
