Joy Comes in the Morning
Psalm 30:5 (ESV)
“For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
Philippians 4:4 (ESV)
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
Devotion
There are nights when sorrow sits heavy on the soul. Grief, disappointment, and loss can feel like unwelcome companions that refuse to leave. But Psalm 30:5 reminds us that these nights are not the end of our story. They are moments, not final chapters.
David knew hardship. He knew betrayal, fear, loss, and even the weight of his own sin. And yet, he confidently declares that joy is coming—not might come, but will come. It is promised for the morning.
But joy isn’t only something we wait for — it’s something we choose and carry by faith. Paul, writing from prison, commanded believers: “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). That kind of joy doesn’t come from circumstances—it comes from abiding in Christ.
The world says you can only be joyful when everything is going right. The Word says you can walk in joy because the Lord is with you, and He is unchanging. Even in sorrow, we can rejoice because we know the end of the story: God is faithful, joy is rising, and His love endures forever.
Prayer Focus
Father, thank You that even in the darkest night, Your presence is my light. Help me to walk in the joy that comes not from feelings, but from knowing You. Let rejoicing become my rhythm, even before the breakthrough arrives. I declare that weeping may endure for a night, but joy is my portion—today and forever.
