Single-Minded Vision

Matthew 6:22–23 (ESV)
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Devotional Thought:

The lust of the eyes does more than distract us — it divides us. Jesus teaches that our spiritual health is directly connected to our vision. When our eyes are clear and focused, our whole life is filled with light. But when our vision is distorted by desire, comparison, or distraction, darkness begins to creep in.

A single-minded vision is not about ignoring life’s realities — it is about choosing one supreme focus. It is deciding that God’s will, God’s kingdom, and God’s purposes will shape what we pursue and how we live.

The enemy often clouds our vision with good things that replace the best thing. We become busy, entertained, and occupied, yet spiritually unfocused. The lust of the eyes keeps us constantly looking at what we don’t have, what others have, or what the world offers.

Fasting helps bring clarity. As appetites were confronted in Week 1 and distractions are being addressed in Week 2, God is training us to fix our eyes on Him again. When our focus is restored, our direction is restored.

Today, we ask the Lord for a clear, undivided heart.

Prayer Focus:

  • Ask God to reveal anything that has divided your focus

  • Pray for a single-hearted devotion to the Lord

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to bring clarity and light to your spiritual vision

  • Surrender distractions that compete with your attention

Prayer:

“Lord, purify my vision and give me a single heart. Remove anything that has divided my focus or distracted my devotion. I choose to fix my eyes on You alone. Fill my life with Your light and lead me in Your ways. Amen.”
