Keep the Fire Burning

Keep the Fire Burning — Revival Nights. Leviticus 6:8–13, with flames rising from an altar.

What happens when the music stops and we return to ordinary life? Sunday’s encounter with God invites us to keep drawing near on Monday. Yesterday’s fire does not remove today’s responsibility.

In Leviticus 6:8–13, the priests were commanded to keep the altar fire burning. Every morning they removed ashes, added wood, and attended to the offering. Their worship included quiet, faithful service.

Offer Him your life

These sacrifices point us toward Jesus, who offered Himself once for all (Hebrews 10:10–14). We come to God through His finished sacrifice. Daily surrender is our response to His grace. Romans 12:1 calls us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. Bring Jesus your actual life: your words, relationships, habits, and plans. Pray honestly, “Jesus, You can have all of me.”

Give Him your attention every day

The priests added wood every morning. For us, daily prayer, Scripture, thanksgiving, repentance, and obedience express faithful attention to the Lord. These practices help us respond to the Holy Spirit and listen to His direction. A difficult week or a quiet prayer time does not mean God has abandoned you. Keep coming to Jesus. Keep listening. Keep obeying.

Respond to the Holy Spirit

First Thessalonians 5:19–22 calls us to welcome the Spirit’s work with discernment, testing what is spoken and holding fast to what is good. Follow through when He leads you into truth and obedience. A heart burning for Jesus becomes a life that serves Him: loving people, forgiving, giving generously, and sharing the gospel.

This week, set aside time each day to open Scripture and pray. Ask the Lord to show you one step of obedience, and take it. Let what begins in worship bear fruit in your home, your church, and your city.

A prayer for today

Father, thank You for receiving us through Jesus. Holy Spirit, deepen our love for Him, open the Scriptures to us, and strengthen us to obey. We give You our yes, today and every day. Amen.
