It All Starts With God
Scripture:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit… Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
— John 15:1–5 (ESV)
Devotion
Before God ever gave Adam a spouse, children, or an assignment, He gave him Himself. The very first relationship in Scripture was not between man and woman, but between God and man. That divine order has never changed.
Jesus makes it clear: He is the Vine, and we are the branches. Our ability to thrive in life, marriage, friendships, and calling all depends on our connection to Him. Without Him, we wither. With Him, we flourish.
This is why your relationship with God is the starting point for everything else. If it’s strong, your other relationships can find healing, order, and purpose. If it’s weak, even good relationships will struggle to stand.
The secret to fruit-filled relationships is not striving harder—it’s abiding deeper. Staying connected to the Source. Walking with Him daily. Drawing strength, wisdom, and love from the One who designed you for connection.
Everything you are looking for in life—identity, joy, peace, fulfillment—starts with Him.
Prayer
Father, I thank You that everything in my life begins with You. Help me to keep my heart rooted in You so that every relationship flows from Your presence. Teach me to abide daily and to never try to produce fruit apart from You. May my life and relationships bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
