Hunger That Leads to Encounter

Exodus 33:18 (ESV)

“Moses said, ‘Please show me your glory.’”

Psalm 42:1–2 (ESV)

“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?”

Devotional Thought:

Spiritual hunger doesn’t stop at discipline—it drives us toward encounter. Moses had already seen the Red Sea part. He had stood on Mount Sinai. He had spoken with God face-to-face. And yet, he wanted more.

“Please show me Your glory.”

This wasn’t casual curiosity—it was holy desperation. Moses wasn’t content with past miracles or secondhand stories. He craved the presence of God. Hunger led him beyond routine… into revelation.

Psalm 42 echoes that same cry: “When shall I come and appear before God?” That’s hunger for presence, not just answers. This is the kind of longing God responds to—when we don’t just want His help… we want Him.

If you’re in a dry place today, don’t settle. Let that dryness become your cry: “Show me Your glory.”

Prayer Focus:

Lord, I want more than a touch—I want encounter. I’m hungry for Your glory, Your presence, and the reality of who You are. Don’t let me settle for less than fullness.

Prayer Points:

  • Personal Encounter: Pray for fresh encounters with God in your quiet time, not just church services.

  • Hunger That Draws His Presence: Ask God to stir up longing that leads to divine visitation.

  • Eyes to See His Glory: Ask for spiritual sight to recognize God’s movement in everyday life.
