Conquering the Flesh

Romans 8:13 (ESV)

“For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

Devotion:
Victory doesn’t begin on the battlefield of the world—it begins in the heart. Before we talk about overcoming the devil or standing against the world’s system, we must confront the enemy within: our flesh. The flesh is the part of us that resists the Spirit—it’s the carnal nature, the selfish appetite, the pride that refuses to surrender.

Paul tells us plainly that living according to the flesh leads to death. But by the Spirit—not by our willpower—we can put to death the deeds of the body and walk in newness of life. This is what it means to be victorious from the inside out.

In this hour, Jesus isn’t just looking for informed believers—He’s calling for transformed disciples. If we want to be those who conquer, we must first be those who crucify the flesh daily. This is where holiness begins, and where the fire of revival gets kindled—in the secret place, where we choose obedience over indulgence, surrender over stubbornness.

Prayer Focus:
Today, pray for the Holy Spirit’s power to overcome every carnal mindset, attitude, and habit. Ask the Lord to expose anything in your life that feeds the flesh, and to ignite a deeper hunger for righteousness. Pray that the Church would walk in personal repentance and holiness so that we can walk in corporate power.
