Clothed in Readiness
Romans 13:11–12 (ESV)
"Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light."
Devotion:
Paul calls the Church to live with urgency and clarity. The hour is late. The world is growing darker. But for the people of God, the response is not panic—it’s preparation.
We are called to “cast off the works of darkness”—any behavior, compromise, or mindset that doesn’t reflect Christ. But it doesn’t stop there. We must also “put on the armor of light.” That means intentionally clothing ourselves in what protects, equips, and reveals the glory of God.
This armor is not just defensive—it is a testimony. When we are clothed in light, people see Jesus through us. It’s a call to active, visible faith.
This is what it means to be dressed for action:
✓ Awake.
✓ Alert.
✓ Armored in righteousness.
✓ Shining with His light.
Reflection Questions:
Have I grown spiritually drowsy in any area of life?
What darkness needs to be cast off?
Am I wearing the armor of light in my words, choices, and attitudes?
Prayer Focus:
Father, I wake up today with my eyes on eternity. Help me cast off compromise and be clothed in Your light. May I walk today dressed for action—not in fear, but in faith and boldness. Let my life reflect the nearness of Your return.
