🇺🇸 Veterans Day: Honoring Those Who Served

John 15:13 (ESV)

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Reflection & Devotion

Today we pause to honor the men and women who have served our nation — those who stood in the gap, carried the weight of duty, and sacrificed comfort, time, and in many cases, their very lives for the freedom we enjoy.

Service is more than wearing a uniform; it’s the heart of laying one’s life down for others. Jesus Himself gave us the highest model of service — love expressed through sacrifice. Our veterans have carried that spirit in tangible form, protecting what is good and preserving what is sacred.

Many carry visible scars, and others bear invisible wounds — reminders of battles fought both abroad and within. As believers, we lift them up today, praying not only for strength but for healing — body, mind, and soul.
Freedom isn’t free, and gratitude must never be silent.

Today, let’s remember those who stood watch while we rested, those who missed moments at home so others could have them, and those who gave everything so that others might live free.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for every veteran — for their courage, strength, and willingness to serve.

  • Pray for the healing of those who carry unseen wounds of war and for God’s peace to cover them.

  • Remember the families of fallen soldiers and those still serving today around the world.

Prayer:
“Lord, today we honor the men and women who have served our nation with courage and conviction. We thank You for their sacrifice and the freedom we enjoy because of their service. For those who carry pain or memories too heavy to speak, bring healing and peace that only You can give. Surround every veteran and their family with Your love, protection, and blessing. May we never take their service — or Your ultimate sacrifice — for granted. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
