The Responsibility of Access
Scripture: Hebrews 10:19–22 (ESV)
“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
Devotion:
The death and resurrection of Jesus didn’t just tear the veil—it opened the way. The question is: What will we do with that access?
The High Priest of Israel could only enter God’s presence once a year, and only with fear and trembling. But through Christ, we have daily, bold access to the throne of grace. That access is not casual or optional—it’s an invitation to pursue Him with a true heart.
Access brings responsibility. We can’t treat the presence of God like a routine or an accessory. We are called to draw near—to live in His presence with reverence, faith, and assurance.
When we neglect the presence of God, we live below our calling. But when we embrace access with pursuit, we live in freedom, intimacy, and power.
Reflection Questions:
Am I using the access Christ has given me, or am I letting the veil stay up in my heart?
Do I approach God casually, or with reverence and hunger?
How can I grow in drawing near with a true heart this week?
Prayer Focus:
Pray for a hunger to pursue God daily, not just occasionally. Thank Him for tearing the veil and giving you access through Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your desire to “draw near” and live in intimacy with Him. Declare that Harvest will be a people of pursuit, not passivity.
