Speaking Life Into Others

Scripture Focus:
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
— Proverbs 16:24 (ESV)

Devotional Thought:
Your words carry the power to strengthen, heal, and restore. According to Proverbs 16:24, gracious words don’t just sound nice—they bring actual life to the soul and health to the body.

In a world where people are constantly being torn down, criticized, and overlooked, a word of encouragement has eternal weight. One sincere compliment, one “I believe in you,” one Spirit-led affirmation—these things can shift someone’s direction, heal past wounds, or even keep someone from giving up.

Speaking life doesn’t mean flattery or avoiding truth. It means being intentional to let your words reflect God’s heart. It means speaking hope instead of fear, peace instead of strife, blessing instead of bitterness. It’s choosing to see people not by their failures, but by their God-given potential.

Jesus modeled this beautifully. He spoke life over tax collectors, fishermen, lepers, and prostitutes. He called people out of shame and into purpose. He used words to restore identity, cast out fear, and release faith.

If our mouths are truly surrendered to Him, then our words should sound like His.

Prayer Focus:

  • Ask God to use your words to build up the people around you today.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to highlight someone who needs encouragement.

  • Repent for any careless or critical words that may have hurt someone.

Reflection Question:
Are my words lifting others toward their calling, or leaving them stuck in their past?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, let my words today be like honey—sweet to the soul and healing to the heart. Teach me to speak life wherever I go. Help me see people the way You see them and speak what You would say. Use my mouth to restore, uplift, and release hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.
