Keep Your Lamps Filled

Scripture:
Matthew 25:4 (ESV)
"But the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps."

Devotion:
Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins reminds us: everyone had a lamp, but not everyone had oil. The foolish were unprepared when the Bridegroom came. They couldn’t borrow oil at the last moment.

Oil in Scripture often represents the Holy Spirit and a genuine relationship with Jesus. It’s your private history with Him — your secret place prayers, your obedience, your worship when no one sees.

You can’t borrow intimacy. You can’t fake a burning heart. You must keep your lamp filled daily.

In a world of spiritual distractions, debates, and busyness, let’s pause today and invite the Holy Spirit to refill us with fresh oil.

Prayer Focus:
Lord, I don’t want an empty lamp. Fill me again today with Your Spirit.
Renew my hunger for Your presence and truth.
Help me guard my heart against apathy and distraction.
May my private devotion match my public confession — keep my lamp burning bright until You come!

Prayer Points:

  • Ask for fresh hunger for the Word and prayer.

  • Surrender busyness and let Him restore your secret place time.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of spiritual dryness.

  • Declare: “I will be wise — I will keep oil in my lamp!”
