Day 25: You Will Be My Witnesses

40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Prayer Focus: Living as a Witness for Jesus

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…”
Acts 1:8 ESV

Yesterday our prayer was:

“Lord, send me into the harvest.”

Today we focus on what it means to live as someone who has been sent.

“Jesus, make my life a witness for You.”

A Witness Tells What They Know

Before Jesus ascended, He told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would empower them to be His witnesses.

A witness does not have to know everything.

A witness simply tells what they have seen, heard, and experienced.

That means your testimony matters.

What has Jesus done in your life?

How has He changed you?

Where has He brought freedom?

How has He forgiven, restored, healed, strengthened, or carried you?

You may not have an answer for every theological question someone could ask.

But you can say:

“Let me tell you what Jesus has done for me.”

We Need the Holy Spirit

Jesus did not tell His disciples to accomplish this mission through personality, talent, or human strength.

He told them:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”

The Greek word translated power is dynamis, carrying the idea of power, ability, or might.

The mission Jesus gave them required more than human ability.

And so does ours.

We need the Holy Spirit to give us boldness.

We need Him to open doors.

We need Him to give us words.

We need Him to work in people's hearts.

The Gospel is not something we carry alone.

The Holy Spirit empowers the witness.

Let Your Life Point to Jesus

Being a witness is more than what we say.

People also see how we live.

How we respond when we're hurt.

How we treat people.

How we handle conflict.

How we serve.

How we forgive.

How we love.

Jesus said:

“Let your light shine before others…”
Matthew 5:16 ESV

Our words should point people to Jesus.

And our lives should support what our words proclaim.

Today's Prayer Focus

Fill Me With Your Spirit
Give me boldness and power to represent Jesus well.

Use My Testimony
Help me recognize the story You have already given me.

Open Doors
Give me opportunities to talk naturally about Jesus.

Let My Life Shine
Make my actions consistent with the Gospel I proclaim.

Today's Prayer

Father, thank You for what Jesus has done in my life.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me boldness to be a witness for Christ.

Help me recognize the opportunities You place around me.

Give me words when I need to speak and wisdom when I need to listen.

Let my life reflect Jesus in the way I love, serve, forgive, and respond to others.

I don't want to keep what You have done in me to myself.

Jesus, make my life a witness for You.

In Jesus' name, amen.

Today's Challenge

Take a few minutes and answer this question:

“What has Jesus done in my life that someone else needs to hear?”

Put it into a simple two-minute testimony.

Then ask God for an opportunity to share it.
