Called to Belong

“Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you…”

— Ephesians 1:18 (ESV)

Devotion:

Your calling didn’t start the day you found a ministry position or got a promotion. It started in the heart of the Father—before you ever took your first breath.

Paul’s prayer in Ephesians reminds us: our eyes must be opened spiritually to see what God already sees. You are not wandering aimlessly through life. You are not trying to find purpose—you were created for purpose.

God’s calling isn’t reserved for the elite or the visibly gifted. It’s for sons and daughters who belong to Him and are willing to walk closely enough to hear His whisper. Sometimes, the most powerful assignments begin in ordinary moments—where faith meets obedience.

You were chosen not just to do something for God but to belong to Him—and from that place of belonging, to live with purpose every day.

Prayer Focus:

  • Pray for spiritual eyes to be opened to God’s purpose for your life.

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to strip away false identities and comparison.

  • Intercede for those who are discouraged and feel directionless.

  • Declare that your identity in Christ will anchor your calling.

  • Pray for our church body to live on mission—at home, at work, and in the community.

Lord, awaken us to the hope of Your calling. Make us a people who don’t just chase purpose—but walk in it, every step with You.
