A Victor Knows Who They Are

Scripture Focus:
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
— Romans 8:37 (ESV)

Devotional Thought:
Victory begins with identity. If you don’t know who you are in Christ, you’ll always be vulnerable to a defeated mindset. The enemy’s strategy from the beginning has been to question identity: “Did God really say?” If he can confuse who you are, he can distort how you think.

But Paul makes it clear: “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Notice the phrase “in all these things.” Paul wasn’t talking about an easy life. Just before this, he listed trials, persecution, famine, danger, even the sword (Romans 8:35). Yet in the middle of hardship, the believer’s identity doesn’t change—we remain more than conquerors.

A defeated mindset says:

  • “I’m stuck.”

  • “I’m not good enough.”

  • “This is who I’ll always be.”

But a victor’s mindset declares:

  • “I am loved by God.”

  • “I am chosen and called.”

  • “I am more than a conqueror in Christ.”

When you know who you are, you don’t live for victory—you live from victory.

Prayer Focus:

  • Thank God that your identity is secure in Christ, not in circumstances.

  • Renounce every lie of the enemy that says you are defeated, unworthy, or stuck.

  • Declare your identity as a child of God and a conqueror through His love.

Reflection Question:
Am I living out of the lies of a defeated mindset, or from the identity God has already given me as more than a conqueror?
