Reignite Your First Love
Revelation 2:4–5 (ESV) –
"But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first."
Devotional Thought:
Before we ask God for a fresh word or a new assignment, we must first return to our first love. Revelation 2 describes a church that was full of good works, perseverance, and sound doctrine—but they had lost the wonder of loving Jesus above all else.
This isn’t about emotionalism; it’s about priority. Have we become busy for God but distant from Him? Have we replaced intimacy with activity?
The new year is not just a time for fresh goals—it’s a call back to the secret place. To love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. To rekindle the fire that once burned when we first believed.
Prayer Points:
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any area where love has grown cold. Whether it’s your prayer life, worship, hunger for the Word, or obedience.
Repent for becoming distant or distracted. Return with honesty, not shame.
Pray for a fresh baptism of love. Ask God to stir affection, awe, and a heart that delights in His presence again.
Ask the Lord to restore your hunger and sensitivity to His voice.
Declaration:
"Jesus, I choose You again today. Not just as Savior, but as my First Love. Ignite my heart. Restore my wonder. Let my passion for You outweigh my passion for anything else. In this new year, let me walk close—talking with You, loving You, and honoring You with every part of my life."
